The Simplicity of Christianity

A seven part ebook on living the Christian Life from a runners perspective.

Changing your life from an “I have to” Christianity, to “I get to!”

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.  And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to Himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; to wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto Himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.  Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God.  For He hath made Him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him.

2 Corinthians 5:17-21

Change your life from an “I have to” Christianity, to “I get to!”

A seven part ebook on living the Christian Life from a runners perspective.

The Christian life is founded on knowing Christ.

Knowing Christ changes everything.

It makes life look completely different.

It gives your life meaning and purpose.

It fills your heart with peace and contentment.

And don’t get me started on how adventure filled this life then becomes!

Sadness takes on a whole new meaning.

Guilt draws us to Christ into an even deeper relationship.

Decisions are easier to make.

Motivation is no longer fleeting.

Rest becomes enjoyable.

And Christianity becomes simple.

Why do I say Christianity is simple? Because it is no longer us living, it’s Christ in us. He does the work. Our job is to be still and run!

All throughout my teens, I knew what I was supposed to do, but because I was hurt by legalism and being forced to conform to rules that were not convictions of my own, outwardly I was one person and inwardly I was another. This caused quite a few problems in my personal life. I desperately wanted to fit in and be the person everyone else thought I should be. I wanted to be noticed and praised.

Over the last few years, I’ve realized Christianity is not that complicated.

Christianity is about forming a relationship with the Creator of the Universe.

That’s it.

It’s out of this relationship that you will desire to then love God in return. You will grow to want to serve Him. You will eventually want His will over your own.

Think of the best relationship you have ever been in. As you grew closer to this person, did you not want to love them more? Did you not want to please them in as many ways as possible?

God sent Jesus to earth to make a way for us to be in a relationship with the Father.

2 Corinthians 5:17-21 gives us a beautiful picture of the whole purpose with which God sent His Son to earth.

When I realized this, my whole life changed.

The rules and regulations I had been trying to follow were no longer things I had to do, but most of them became things I wanted to do to please God. Because of Jesus, I am sealed by the Holy Spirit till the day of redemption. Now my actions can be that of service, not to earn God’s love or salvation, but simply as a gift and a thank you in return for what He’s done for me.

If you have ever felt like something is missing in your life, then this may be the answer you have been searching for! I know it was for me.
