Your Key to Success: Nailing Down the Basics Part Six
Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
Mattew 11:28-30

Excerpt taken from the “Back to the Basics” program workbook…
“For a long time I struggled with these verses. We are supposed to do all this stuff in the Christian life right? We are not supposed to kill, steal, or lie and we are supposed to go the extra mile, forgive, and love our enemies. The list can feel and be a big burden. But it’s unnecessary to try and follow all these rules because we are free in Christ. I was so confused.
“It wasn’t until years later that God finally began opening my eyes to understand how the Christian life is easy, because up until that point it was anything by easy. How did the prophets get persecuted and they still praised God? How did the traveling evangelist keep going without getting weary? How did the missionary joyfully serve on the mission field?
“God had to first show me who He really was and who I really was before I was able to truly grasp the truth that Jesus’ way is easy. It was my form that was gnarly and weak.
“As humans we cannot live the Christian life perfectly. We must engage our core, straighten our form, lean towards Jesus, and let the rest of our body follow the forward momentum. The strong back bone and legs that everyone keeps telling you we need, the hope filled soul, the faith filled actions, and love filled heart, the joy filled smile, the grateful countenance – these are all by-products of a correct form.
“I’ve learned all God requires of us is three things – to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with God. This is a correct form. Just as all the law is fulfilled in loving God with all we are and loving others, so is walking with God – everything else is a by-product. (See Matthew 22:37-40)
“Jesus is our forerunner who went before us. We need only to lean towards Him, and better yet, lean on Him, then ask Him to work through us. It really is that simple!”
The greatest treasure we can ever obtain is Christ. Seek His face friend, over His hands and you’ll see a huge difference in your life!
