Dreaming with God has been one of the most influential things I’ve done. I started doing this sometime in my teens and still do it today. More recently, because of some things I have been healing from or dealing with, I just tell God to hear my heart and cling to Psalm 37:4. I’ll dive into that more in the next post, but for this one I wanted to encourage you to dream with God specifically concerning your schedule. This includes your morning routine, evening routine, weekly plans, yearly goals, even your work routine and dream job.

Dreaming is a part of us from the day we are born. Even as an adult we have dreams and things we wish could happen. Some of us may stifle these desires because we are “adults” and adults can’t dream anymore.

Where on earth does it say in the Bible that we can’t have dreams?

Where does it say we can’t talk to God about what is on our hearts in the area of “wants”?

Perhaps we are determined to be content and in that somewhere we learned that that means we can’t have desires anymore.

When we tell God that we can’t have desires or dreams or wants are we not telling Him that He made a mistake when He created us?

For those of us who have come to believe that we can’t have wants, that we should block out everything in us that desires things beside our basic necessities, I think we need to pause a moment and remind ourselves of the God we say we trust.

Who created us? Where did He come up with the idea to create us? What about the creativity in all the kinds of animals and plants? What about the wide variety of people? What about all the different testimonies and ways that God works? What about… You fill in the blank.

God is a God of creativity and dreams. He is a God of visions and revelation. He did not create humans, especially His children, to try their best to hide themselves from the world and just survive.

I encourage you to read the parable of the talents in Matthew 25:14-30 (You can find the passage at the end of this post). Specifically focus on how the first two people used the money that their lord gave them. We all have gifts and ideas – dreams if you will – to do things of value in this world. What is holding you back from doing things? We are called to be faithful to use what Jesus gives us to glorify God.

Think of the opportunities we have by simply dreaming!

A mentor facility in the middle of a small town that gives people a listening ear and the love of Christ.

A community that shines with the love of Christ because you serve them in a unique way through your music that touches their heart.

A book that makes people want to know more about Jesus.

A food pantry that brings smiles to the hardest to reach people.

The possibilities are endless!

If you didn’t read the last post, I encourage you to do so. Pray about your desires. Journal about them. Surrender them to God, be faithful where He has you and consider ways you can be creative in mixing your desires and dreams into your everyday life. Keep your eyes open for God to work in amazing ways that you’ll find to be very creative and unexpected!

It’s time to dream again!

For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods.

15And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey.

16Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents.

17And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two.

18But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord’s money.

19After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them.

20And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more.

21His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

22He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them.

23His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

24Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed:

25And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine.

26His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed:

27Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury.

28Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents.

29For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.

30And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
