How Your Form Alters the Way You Run
Our life’s ease and enjoyment is dependent upon what thoughts we allow to stay in our mind.
O my God, my soul is cast down within me: therefore will I remember thee from the land of Jordan, and of the Hermonites, from the hill Mizar.
Psalm 42:6

My training recently has been awful. So many life circumstances took energy from me, leaving me with no mental stamina to convince myself to go for a run. Just yesterday I was finally able to run 1.8 miles straight before having to walk/jog the rest of the three miles. It felt like such an accomplishment! Today my quads hurt as if I ran a race and it humbles me to think of how far I have fallen in my fitness.
One of the hardest things we can do in this life is to not control what thoughts we dwell on. Did you catch that? The hardest thing we can ever do is to NOT control the thoughts we dwell on.
Our life’s ease and enjoyment is dependent upon what thoughts we allow to stay in our mind.
What do you think about everyday? What thoughts are you constantly feeding your mind? If you missed last weeks challenge, check it out here. It is one of the most important things you can do, to realize that you are who you are today because of the thoughts you have meditated on in the past.
Seeing life from God’s perspective is the next most important thing you can do. If your form is off when you run, you will waste a lot of energy, time, and gain unnecessary hurt and baggage along the way. You may finish, but it won’t be pretty.

Something I always longed to have when I was a teenager is to be so confident in God and His love for me without having to go through some horribly tragic experience. I wanted to be like the elderly bedridden people, who prayed without ceasing having a smile on their face, but while living a “normal” life. I figured there had to be a way to be so in love with Christ and trust Him without having to go through tragedies that forced you to do so.
When David was down or depressed, saddened or hurting, He reminded Himself of who God is and what He had done in the past and this my friend is the best thing you could ever do for yourself during not just hard times, but good times as well. I have never been more peaceful, joyful, or content than I am in this season because this has been my focus.
Once you do this, I challenge you to ask God to help you see the circumstance you are in from His perspective. Just make sure you first evaluate your thoughts and you remind yourself of who God is and what He has done in the past first. Those are important to do before you will be receptive to what God wants to show you about what is going on in your life.
When our form is off, we can never run effectively, comfortably, or enjoyably. Check out last weeks post if you missed it. The Lean that Changes Everything encourages you to embrace the rest that Jesus promised if we will only come to Him.
