Your Key to Success: Nailing Down the Basics Part Seven
Recovery is when your body has gone through a serious trial, workout, training block, spiritual warfare, argument, etc. You will typically feel worn out, fatigued, tired, foggy brained, depressed, angry, hungry, etc. Your recovery time depends on how you managed the stress, how you fueled your body, how well you trained, your fitness level, your relationship with God, your spiritual maturity, who you surround yourself with etc. etc. etc.
Everyone recovers differently. But your level of growth and success depends greatly on how well you recover.
I’ll briefly share my three tips here. For more, listen to episode #49 on the Be Still and Run by Alli Anne podcast using your favorite platform.
Tip #1: Rest!
The bible talks a great deal about rest. Check out these verses:
Matthew 11:28-30 – Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Exodus 33:14 – And he said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.
Psalms 127:2 – It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.
Matthew 11:29 – Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
Mark 6:31 – And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat.
Exodus 34:21 – Six days thou shalt work, but on the seventh day thou shalt rest: in earing time and in harvest thou shalt rest.
Isaiah 30:15 – For thus saith the Lord GOD, the Holy One of Israel; In returning and rest shall ye be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength: and ye would not.
Psalms 37:7 – Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.
Tip #2: Surround Yourself with Prayer Warriors
This is huge in recovery. Something as simple as recovering from an injury or a race was totally different when I asked people to pray for me than when I didn’t. Make sure you trust the people you ask to pray for you if it is a personal matter.
Tip #3: Active Recovery
Active Recovery is super, super important! I can’t emphasize how much this has impacted my life. Rest is essential and I’ll be sharing about this more as time goes on, but active recovery can be integrated into rest or done shortly thereafter. Anything that keeps you moving, but in a more gentle way, will help keep your circulation flowing, allowing your body to recover quicker and more effectively. But remember, you can’t take my advice over your doctors or the like {wink} just to throw a disclaimer in here.
This also helps with spiritual recovery as it clears the mind, boosts your mood, and gives you a chance to spend undistracted time in prayer with God.
