The other afternoon a missionary from Canada texted me something she had gotten out of devotions that morning. I really think Olivia hit the nail on the head with her “Why” for following God and I fell in love with it. I’ve never thought about “Why” I follow God, as it’s just been a part of me for so long. With permission, I’m sharing her message with you in hopes that you’ll be able to resonate with it as I was able to. Enjoy!
I was thinking over Easter weekend about all that God has done for me, and while I’ve thought about this many times, it came to me in a new way. I realized…
God saved my life.
People have asked me before why I follow God, and I’ve answered them in a roundabout way, but I never thought to answer with that one, simple sentence.
God saved my life.
Consider what would happen if a human saved your life. You would dedicate your life to him because nothing less would be payment enough for what he’d done. Because we know that God saved our lives, why do we hesitate to respond in the same way we would if it had been a human?
Probably because it’s harder to figure out how to live for God than it would be for a human,
But he saved our lives.
We owe him, big time.
The biggest debt that could be owed.
He gave the biggest gift of all, so now it’s our turn to give him the biggest gift we can give him.
Our lives.
We live for God because he saved our lives.
In the time of writing this I wanted to come up with a good title and when I googled, “Why I Should Follow God?” I was shocked with how many results it came up with – 1, 100, 000, 000. That’s a lot of numbers and a lot of reasons why we should follow Him!
What’s your reason? Or if you have not given your life to God through Christ, what is stopping you?
