Tackling Your Nutrition in the Word and on the Table

Your Key to Success: Nailing down the basics; part five

As runners, our success depends on our diet. I have seen this first hand and heard of it’s importance over the years.  Not only does it determine our success, it determines our health, joy, persistence, and life as an individual. Check out this weeks podcast episode for an overview of this months topic… Nutrition.

Blessed are they that keep His testimonies, and that seek Him with the whole heart.

Psalm 119:2

Here are some points I cover in this week’s episode on the podcast:

  1. Don’t overcomplicate it
    1. You have different likes and dislikes
  2. Ingest it as naturally as possible
    1. Don’t always do devotionals
  3. Self-Control is necessary
    1. Intuitiveness is a big hit nowadays. You can’t always do what you want.  Actually there isn’t much in the Christian life that will be what you want unless you are totally surrendered to the Lord. You must CHOOSE to do what is right, especially when the flesh is weak.
  4. What does keeping His testimonies look like?
    1. Scriptural Meditation is the key.
  5. Why is important to seek out health and nutrition with all your heart?
    1. Half heartedness is normally self centered
    1. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways
    1. Requires a clear reason for why you are doing it in order to maintain your persistence

Take Away:

Self-Control is a big part of a Christian’s life.  But be sure to remember that the Christian life is not attainable in human strength.  We must surrender to God’s plan and allow Him to work out His character in our lives.  Is there anything in your life that you are withholding from the Lord?  I challenge you to surrender it to Him this week.  It’s called The Simplicity of Christianity.

I’ll be coming out with a 12:9 Challenge here soon that you can do at your own pace in your own home. My hope is that it will help you realize the importance of surrender to the Lord and encourage you and a friend to grow closer to Christ.

Have a great week… Happy Running!
